From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool and Arsenal do battle twice in 8 days, starting with the lunchtime kick off on Saturday. The Gunners are still top of the Premier League, and face a tough task stopping a free-scoring Reds side, but should take solace from the fact that they are the only side to have successfully shut out Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in a Premier League game they both started this season.
West Brom have drawn more games this season (11) than any other side in the Premier League, and this week come up against a Crystal Palace side who have drawn only 2 of their 24 games so far. Something with have to give in that regard.
In a clash of claret and blue Aston Villa host West Ham, hoping to extend a great run of home form against the Hammers. In the last 6 clashes between the teams at Villa Park, the only West Ham player to score was Diego Tristan.
Chelsea, still yet to lose at home in 72 Premier League matches under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, this weekend welcome a Newcastle side who have lost only 1 of their last 5 trips to Stamford Bridge, and winning on two occasions.
Norwich face Manchester City, who come into the game fresh off the back of Monday night's loss to Chelsea. The Canaries have scored 6 goals in their last 3 home games against City, but have gone on to lose on each occasion.
Stoke travel to Southampton aiming to put an end to their dismal form on the road; they have netted only once in their last 730 minutes away from home in the Premier League, a run stretching all the way back to a 3-3 draw with Swansea at the beginning of November.
Sunderland and Hull face off in a real 6-pointer with the sides only separated on goal difference. Both teams need a win and tempers could be high. With twice as many red cards (4) as goals (2) in the last two meetings this game could follow that trend.
The Welsh derby will also be a fiery affair as managerless Swansea welcome rivals Cardiff to the Liberty Stadium. No Premier League team has gone on a worse run of form away from home this season than Cardiff are currently on (5 losses in a row), so Swansea have a great chance to make a winning start to life after Michael Laudrup.
Tottenham and Everton do battle as the race for fourth hots up. Roberto Soldado should be aware that Everton have conceded the most penalties in the Premier League this season (6). No player has scored more spot-kicks than the Spaniard (4).
It hasn't been the best season so far for Manchester United or Fulham. The Cottagers are bottom of England's top flight with just 19 points, and having lost their last 11 trips to Old Trafford, conceding 30 goals in the process, there is little hope of them moving off the foot of the table this weekend.
