From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Premier League leader’s 23-match unbeaten run was brought to an abrupt end by Newcastle last weekend and they are now just three points clear of second-place Manchester City.
Chelsea will be eager to reaffirm their league dominance, and bounce back from last weekend’s unexpected defeat. Jose Mourinho’s side will also be well aware that Manchester City will draw level with them on points, if they beat Leicester City.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last ten meetings with Hull City in all competitions, and have never lost to the Tigers in the Premier League.
Hull have not won a league match since they beat Crystal Palace at the KC Stadium on 4 October. Steve Bruce’s men have struggled to create and convert chances in recent weeks and managed just two goals in their last six matches. Hull slipped into the relegation zone last weekend, when they were held to a goalless draw at home to West Brom, and they are currently just one point from safety.
