Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has sparked outrage by Liverpool fans and hilarity among Chelsea fans with a three-word response to a question on social media.

Cech, 32, was hosting a Q&A session on Twitter when he responded to a question by Chelsea fan Ed Roberts.

Roberts said: "is it true [Lionel] messi has scored the same amount of goals against you as Steven Gerrard has premier league medals?"

The answer, as all fans of the Blues and Liverpool will know, is zero.

Cech simply replied: "you are right" sparking a storm on the site.

The response has so far had more than 7,000 retweets and 4,000 favourites, leaving Chelsea fans delighted and Liverpool supporters furious.

After 10 unbelievable years as No 1, the Czech keeper is likely to lose his place to young Belgian star Thibaut Courtois for Chelsea's Premier League opener at Burnley.

Cech has played 478 matches for the Blues and is sixth on their all-time appearance list. He has kept clean sheets in 220 of those matches, a club record.
