Modest Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech says he has still yet to break David James' Premier League clean sheet record, disputing the claim reported over the weekend that he had set a new record.
The Gunners defeated Stoke City 2-0 on Saturday, giving what may thought was his record 171st clean sheet in the English top flight, one more than David James. Cech, however, took to Twitter to explain exactly why he has not yet broken the record.
"Good morning everybody, I took time to have a look into my number of clean sheets as there is so many different numbers regarding that," the Czech Republic international posted on Twitter.
"You have to play full 90 minutes to count a Premier League clean sheet... that's the rule, so only the games gk starts and finishes.
"I have 171 Premier league clean sheets in total but can't count 4 because I didn't play full 90 minutes ... So the correct number is : 167!"
