Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It’s a big game for…

Shane Long: Having ended a streak of six league games without a win with their 4-0 demolition of Arsenal on Boxing Day, Southampton were unable to turn dominance into goals in the first half against West Ham, and it came back to bite them. Clearly out of form at the moment, he and his team will want to turn things around sooner rather than later.

Best stat…

2: Norwich have won two of their last three League games, as many as they won total in their previous fourteen before that.

Remember when…

Southampton beat Norwich 6-5 on penalties in the semi-final of the Johnstones Paint Trophy in December 2009.

Player to watch…

Sadio Mane: The Southampton striker has been in good form this season, and could well be the man to spark Southampton into a good run of performances.

Past three meetings…

Southampton 3 (Pelle, Tadic 2) Norwich 0, Premier League, August 2015

Southampton 4 (Schneiderlin, Lambert, Rodriguez, Gallagher) Norwich 2 (Elmander, Snodgrass), Premier League, March 2014

Norwich 1 (Redmond) Southampton 0, Premier League, August 2013

Form guide…

Norwich: DLDWLW

Southampton: LDLLWL
