Freddie Ljungberg‘s first game in charge ended in disappointment as Arsenal were held in a frantic 2-2 draw against Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Despite the Gunners’ positive start, it was Teemu Pukki who exposed the space between David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi and opened the scoring when his shot ricocheted off the latter’s leg and into the bottom corner.

There was controversy moments later after Tim Krul saved Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty, only for VAR to intervene with Max Aarons – who was first to clear the ball – adjudged to have encroached in the box. The penalty was subsequently retaken with Aubameyang making no mistake second time around.

However, Arsenal’s brittle defence then came unstuck again as Onel Hernandez burst clear down the left-hand side and laid the ball off to an unmarked Todd Cantwell, whose curled his finish into the far corner to give Norwich the lead in the dying moments of the first half.

Aubameyang proved Arsenal's rescuer again, though, when Norwich’s vulnerability from set-pieces was finally punished as the ball pinballed around the box before the striker thrashed it home. Both sides had chances to seal victory in a thrilling and wide-open end to the match, however, neither could capitalise. Check out our player ratings from the game:
