Newcastle stunned Chelsea on Saturday to record a 2-1 victory at St James’ Park to inflict a first defeat of the season on the Blues.

Two goals from substitute Papiss Cisse saw the Magpies take a strong lead midway through the second half, and despite a Didier Drogba consolation and a red card to Steven Taylor, the home side managed to hold on for a famous victory.

There was further drama at the break when Newcastle's reserve goalkeeper Rob Elliot, deputising for the injured Tim Krul, limped off himself and had to be replaced by debutant Jak Alnwick.

Chelsea had been tipped to go the season unbeaten after a strong start to the season saw them go 23 games without defeat. Avoiding defeat at Newcastle would have set a new record, but it wasn’t to be as Chelsea crashed to a first loss in all competitions.

So could anyone outscore Magpies’ hero Cisse?
