Mauricio Pochettino to PSG: Tottenham manager admits it would be a 'dream' to join Paris club

The Argentine has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane following an impressive season

A day after their Premier League title challenge seemingly ended with a disappointing draw at home to West Bromwich Albion, Tottenham Hotspur supporters were dealt a new blow on Tuesday night when manager Mauricio Pochettino again reiterated his desire to coach former side Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine’s feats in taking Spurs close to a first title in over half a century – they sit seven points behind leaders Leicester City with three matches remaining - have resulted in him being linked with Chelsea and Manchester United as well as the French club, where he spent two years as a player, and became captain, from 2001.

“I’ve always said that I would be pleased to join a great club like PSG,” Pochettino told French radio station RMC. “Come to Paris? I hope so. It is true that it would please me. It’s part of my dreams. I try to watch all their matches, especially in the Champions League.

“The [French] championship is not very attractive because PSG is far from the other teams but I look a lot because it is a major source of players. There is talent so I have to follow Ligue 1."

The 44-year-old, who won 20 caps for Argentina, joined Tottenham in May 2014 and led them to the League Cup final and a fifth-place finish in the Premier League in his first season in charge, before taking them to the last sixteen of both the Europa League and FA Cup this season as well as likely qualification for the Champions League - for only the second time in their history. He has been named Premier League manager of the month twice this campaign.

Pochettino previously spent just 16 months at Southampton before departing for White Hart Lane, re-energising the South Coast side and helping bring through several young players and England internationals, following a three-year spell in charge at Espanyol.
