Jose Mourinho says Chelsea assistant coach Marco Ianni deserves a second chance

Marco Ianni has been fined £6,000 by the FA for provocatively gesturing towards Jose Mourinho after Ross Barkley’s equaliser in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United on October 20.

The Chelsea second assistant's wild celebrations, which saw him twice run past Jose Mourinho while looking at the Portuguese manager, sparked a touchline melee between players and staff from the two sides.

Maurizio Sarri and Ianni apologised to Jose Mourinho after the game which the Manchester United manager accepted while blaming the Chelsea staff member’s “bad education”.

“I have made mistakes in football matches and I will make more. After the game he came to apologise to me and I accept his apology, nothing more to say.”

“Maurizio told me he would take care of it internally and I accept also his apologise. The young fellow come and he apologises. I told him I accept as I did mistakes, especially when I was your age.”

Mourinho was not subject to any disciplinary action after the incident.
