Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Lanzini missed Saturday's goalless draw at Old Trafford, and West Ham confirmed the extent of the Argentinian's injury on Tuesday.
"West Ham United can confirm that Manuel Lanzini could be ruled out for up to six weeks with a quadriceps injury," read a club statement.
"Lanzini underwent a scan on Monday and will now begin a period of rehabilitation which is expected to keep him out of first-team action for a period of up to six weeks."
Lanzini has hit four goals and provided one assist in 12 Premier League appearances for West Ham so far this term, during his season-long loan spell from Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.
The latest injury blow for Slaven Bilic's side follows the loss of Diafra Sakho for three months with a thigh problem of his own, while Victor Moses was still sweating on the results of a scan on his hamstring.
