From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The flamboyant Manchester United winger celebrated the most romantic day of the year by wearing a bomber jacket emblazoned with the face of his girlfriend Lori Harvey.
The Netherlands international posted a picture of himself on Instagram in which he is seen wearing the jacket whilst standing with his partner. It was accompanied by the message: "Happy Valentine's Day baby. I love you."
The gesture will fuel concerns that Depay is not fully focused on his football. Since making a £25m move to Old Trafford from PV Eindhoven in the summer, the 22-year-old has shown only glimpses of his talent and now struggles to command a place in Louis van Gaal's side.
The regularity with which he appears in celebrity magazines and his at times bombastic attire have been cited as causes as to his poor form. Former Ajax and FC Twente coach Co Adriaanse once said Depay looked like a "Peruvian pan flute player" and that the youngster had not yet done enough in his career to justify such behaviour.
Following Manchester United's defeat to Sunderland at the weekend, in which he came off the bench in the 62nd minute, Depay flew to Rotterdam to celebrate his birthday.
