Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ahead of the Premier League meeting between Manchester United and West Ham this weekend, we caught up with a couple of fans for their take on the match...
Manchester United fan - Dave Ford
We welcome West Ham to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, looking for the win to keep us in touch at the top of the table as we head into the all-important Christmas period.
We are unbeaten at home so far this season, although West Ham have already earned surprise wins at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City this term so we will have to be on our toes from the start if we want to avoid becoming part of that group.
On a positive note, West Ham will be without Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho and Dimitri Payet for the game, and combined with our excellent record of only conceding one goal at home in the league so far this season, it gives me real reason for optimism.
Wayne Rooney might be out injured but Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have points to prove after disappointing in recent weeks. We will have too much for West Ham on the day and I’m predicting a 2-0 win for United.
West Ham fan - Joe Difford
After a couple of disappointing results, we need to rediscover the same away form that saw us beat Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City in their own back yards. Manchester United away is never an easy game but we need to play without fear and if we do that then there is no reason why we can’t add them to our list of scalps this season.
Manchester United are unbeaten since the first week of October when they lost to Arsenal but since then they have been slowly finding their form. When you take Diafra Sakho and Dimitri Payet out of any side it’s always going to be difficult, the last thing we need is anymore injuries this weekend.
United could go top this weekend if they take all three points so they will be fired up, but we are desperate to pick up a positive result to stop us sliding down the table even further.
Expect goals. We have scored the fourth most this season but we have also conceded the most of teams in the top half of the table. I’m predicting a score draw.
