From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Manchester United host Liverpool this weekend in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Premier League season.

Both sides head into the match at Old Trafford on the back of defeats, ensuring the importance of gaining a result has only increased.

Louis van Gaal did the double over Manchester United's fiercest rivals last season, winning 3-0 at Old Trafford and 2-1 at Anfield.

So it seems only right that our combined XI features more United players than it does Liverpool.

Our selection is made up based on form so far this season and includes only those available for selection for this weekend's game, which means there is no Philippe Coutinho due to his suspension.

See who we selected in a combined XI below...
