From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Manchester United got their season off to winning start with a thumping 4-0 victory over Chelsea.

Marcus Rashford converted from the spot after being brought down by Kurt Zouma in the opening 20 minutes.

Anthony Martial added the second with a close-range volley in the 65th minute before Rashford struck once more moments later.

Second-half substitute Daniel James added insult to injury with a debut goal, dragging a deflected offer past Kepa to make it four.

It was a difficult first day at the office for Frank Lampard, who selected a number of Chelsea academy graduates in a youthful looking line-up only to see his side blown away in the second-half.
