Arsenal defender Gabriel was picked ahead of Per Mertesacker today for Arsenal's Premier League fixture against Manchester United, and endured a torrid first half.

First he very nearly gave away a penalty, but his foul on Marcus Rashford occurred just outside the area.

Then he failed to clear the cross leading to Rashford's first goal, and instead laid the ball right into the striker's path to fire United ahead.

For Rashford's second goal, he was nowhere near the cross, allowing Rashford to head in the second.

The Brazil defender's performance drew much criticism from Arsenal fans on Twitter.

Also in the Premier League today, Tottenham, who lead third-placed Arsenal on goal difference, host Swansea.
