From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A 3-2 victory over Tottenham at White Hart Lane moved the club two points clear of Sunderland who have already played all their games. It means the title has been secured with two games to spare.
Among the team were a number of players who have featured in the senior side this season including Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Paddy McNair, Donald Love, Andreas Pereira and Guillermo Varela. It was the latter's injury time goal that secured maximum points for Manchester United in last night's match.
While the title win suggests the club have some talented players coming through it does not necessarily signal there will be a direct knock-on effect of upturned fortunes for the senior team.
United won the U21 title last year but the senior side are struggling to finish in the top four this term. They also won the U21 title in 2012/13 but the season after that the first-team finished seventh in the Premier League.
However, Chelsea won the U21 title in 2013/14 and the season after the Blues went on to lift the Premier League trophy.
