Mason Greenwood will wear the No.11 shirt at Manchester United next season, the club confirmed on Friday.
Greenwood wore the No.26 jersey last term but will sport a new number, while team-mate Brandon Williams swaps his No.53 shirt for No.33.
Eighteen-year-old Greenwood scored 11 times last season as he established himself as a key member of United’s first-team frontline.
Some fans of the club were quick to point out that the No.7 jersey had been left vacant as the Red Devils continue their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
The England winger wears the No.7 shirt for Dortmund and – while progress over a move to Old Trafford has stalled in recent weeks – United are still keen on signing the 20-year-old this summer.
