At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Yet thousands of Twitter users were left confused this afternoon after several of the United first team took to the platform to Tweet their excitement at the release of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s new movie The Revenant.
The promotion began innocuously enough when defender Chris Smalling, one of the more culturally adventurous of the United squad, publicised his enthusiasm for the new Leonardo Di Caprio blockbuster.
However, soon his teammates had followed suit with Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Juan Mata and Ashley Young announcing their support, all of them using The Revenant’s official handle.
Midfielder Morgan Schneirderlin at least had the originality to mix the message up, cheekily revealing he could now finally take his girlfriend to watch a DiCaprio film.
Even United’s old guard got in on the act as former captain Bryan Robson and one-time record signing Andrew Cole Tweeted their eagerness to see the picture, fuelling suspicion even further that something was afoot.
Eventually, the club confirmed to the Manchester Evening News that they had struck a partnership with 20th Century Fox, the film’s distributors, and the players would promote the movie for free as part of the deal.
The paper also revealed that The Revenant had been advertised on the digital boards at Old Trafford during the home FA Cup tie with Sheffield United last weekend.
Naturally, the Twitter world responded in the only way it knows how.
The Revenant is expected to clean up at the Oscars later this year. Manchester United are expected to win nothing.
