Manchester United have become the first English club to win 600 Premier League games.

Goals from Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia gave United a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

United’s 600th Premier League win follows a further 204 draws and 147 defeats, combining for a total of 2,004 points.

Arsenal trail behind them in the all-time Premier League table, having won 517 games. Third-placed Chelsea can boast 508 victories, while Liverpool sit in fourth with 472 wins.

As well as marking a Premier League milestone, the three points lifted Jose Mourinho’s side into the top five for the first time since September.

United had started the day in 7th following Everton’s win over Hull City on Saturday, having spent the previous 19 weeks in 6th place.

Since the 3-1 victory over Swansea City on 6 November, United have sat adrift of their fellow top-four contenders Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion gave Mourinho’s men the opportunity to finally break into the top five.
