Greenwood was missing from both the starting line-up and the substitutes bench as United picked up a much-needed three points to ease the pressure on their manager.
Solskjaer was left unhappy with the fixture schedulers as United were forced to play a Saturday lunchtime kick-off having travelled to Turkey for a 2-1 Champions League defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday.
The United manager blamed the quick turnaround between games for an injury to Luke Shaw, who went off with a hamstring problem during the second half.
Solskjaer now faces a wait to learn the severity of Shaw's injury, while Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof have shoulder and back concerns respectively.
On Greenwood, Solskjaer said: "He wasn’t feeling well last night. He looked well in training, he looked OK, but he reported not well and couldn’t travel.
"Luke is his hamstring, it could be a long one. Marcus is struggling, looked like a shoulder injury. It doesn't look great. Victor, hopefully, not too bad but it's his back as well.
"Any injury when it’s serious isn't worth the points but the boys were not going to give anyone a chance to take three points off us."
On the fixture scheduling, Solskjaer added: "We were set up to fail. The kick-off time set us up to fail.
"We have been to Turkey, played loads of games this season already, we got back Thursday morning and we are playing Saturday lunchtime, it's an absolute shambles.
"The authroirtes set us up for fail, who is responsible? We've had enough of that.
"Players this season, in these times, a pandemic, mentally and physically it's draining. Let us play on a Sunday, there's an international break after this, it's a joke."
