Goals from Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford gave United a deserved lead at the break. Paul Pogba and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were in particularly impressive form in the first half, combining well to set-up Rashford with a tap-in.
Phil Jones was one of 11 new players in the second half and scored his first United goal since 2014 as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side continued their strong performance after the break. Anthony Martial continued to adapt to playing through the middle as a forward and completed the scoring with United's fourth.
Despite training, wantaway forward Romelu Lukaku was not in the matchday squad amid interest from Inter Milan and nor was goalkeeper David De Gea, who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had said would play a part against the Yorkshire side.
