Luke Shaw is understood to be paying Cristiano Ronaldo £7,000-a-month in rent for the use of the Real Madrid forward's Cheshire mansion.

Shaw joined Manchester United in the summer in a £27m move from Southampton and has been living in the £3.85m home formerly occupied by Ronaldo.

The house, which is behind a gated entrance in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, is understood to have a steam room, jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool, its own gym and wine store area.

Ronaldo tried to sell the home after his switch to Real Madrid in 2009 but after being unable to find a buyer, instead opted to rent it out and now finds a Manchester United player occupying it.

A source told the Sunday People: “It’s a stunning house. Lukeabsolutely loves it and especially the fact it’s owned by Ronaldo, one of hisfootball heroes.

“Other United stars live close by and it is handy for the Old Trafford ground.”

Shaw has made just seven appearances since joining Manchester United and has been out injured since United's 2-1 win over Arsenal in November.
