From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The goalkeeper was taken out of the side earlier in the season and made much noise about Manuel Pellegrini's decision at the time, saying it was “hard to see any positives”. That he appears to have been rested for this Premier League match seems only likely to irk the England No 1.
Willy Caballero comes in as his replacement.
Meanwhile Yaya Toure returns to the side having missed the 2-2 draw with Burnley on City's last outing. Fernando is suspended whilst Vincent Kompany is out.
Pellegrini has opted to start with a recognised striker for the match with Stefan Jovetic leading the line rather than a midfielder which has been the preferred option in recent games.
Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has managed to prove his fitness after picking up a knock in the draw with Aston Villa and starts the game at the Etihad.
