Manchester City’s class in the middle was evident during their 3-1 victory against Manchester United as they re-established their place at the top of the Premier League.

David Silva opened the scoring to cap off a fine move before City added a second straight after the break, Sergio Aguero with a powerful front post finish.

Things took an awkward turn for the home side when Ederson clattered into Romelu Lukaku in the penalty area and Anthony Martial converted from the spot. Any City nerves were gone when Ilkay Gundogan walked the ball into the net to give Pep Guardiola’s side a deserved victory over their neighbours.
