From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester City entertain Manchester United in the stand-out Premier League fixture of the weekend.
But heading into the match at the Etihad neither side is where they want to be right now.
A shock defeat at West Ham last Saturday has left Manuel Pellegrini's champions trailing league leaders Chelsea by what will feel like a very large six points.
Manchester United, the traditional power in the city, are further back still. Louis van Gaal's team trail Chelsea by 10 points and whilst their draw against Chelsea at the weekend was commendable for the manner in which the point was secured, it meant even more ground was lost and eighth place is where the Red Devils find themselves.
Whilst both teams have problems, there have also been positives for the Manchester clubs. Some players have shone and those players are included in our combined XI which is based upon the season so far.
In a 4-3-3 formation, after lengthy discussion we've picked a player from one of the two sides in each position that has warranted inclusion more than the other.
