From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Two matches and 5 dropped points later doubts have resurfaced as to whether City have what it takes. Jose Mourinho and his stubborn Chelsea destroyed City’s 100% home record in what was a superior tactical display and Norwich managed to hold on to a draw in last round’s lacklustre 0-0 draw. Manuel Pellegrini’s men, however, are firm favourites when Sunderland visit and need the three points to keep up with Chelsea and Arsenal.
Hull City, and former Black Cats manager Steve Bruce, stopped Sunderland’s good run of three wins and one draw after Wes Brown was sent off early on. Before that, reinvigorated winger Adam Johnson had been appointed the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month after his four goals in four games had put him back in contention for those sought after seats on a certain plane to Brazil and he now faces his former club. Gustavo Poyet will do everything in his power to replicate Sunderland’s 1-0 November victory over City but away sides have found little luck at City this season.
