Manchester City determined to end sensational season by reaching one more Premier League landmark
City beat Brighton to break the Premier League records for points, wins and goals in a single season, but Bernardo Silva says the club are still motivated by one final target

Manchester City want to end their sensational Premier League campaign by reaching one final landmark, according to the Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva.
City beat Brighton at the Etihad on Wednesday night to break the Premier League records for points, wins and goals in a single season, but Silva says the club are still motivated by one final target before their final match at Southampton on Sunday.
“All the staff have said to us, now we’ve broken all the records, we want to go for the three digits – 100 points,” said Silva. “It’s something nobody ever did before and we want to do it.”
Silva was the man to score City’s record-breaking goal – their 104th of the season – against Brighton in a 3-1 win and said it was one to treasure.
“It was a very special moment. We’ve said a few times, of course we wanted to win the league but if we can win it and break the records it would be even better because you stay in the history of the Premier League. Today we were able to break the win record, the goals and the points. To be part of that is something special.
“The manager and all the staff told us they wanted it. They said ‘Let’s break the records because it will be something special’. And it will be something that maybe in a few years we can still tell our kids and grandkids about.”
The strike took his personal tally to nine league goals, a healthy return for a player who has started only 14 games, and he hopes to reach double figures on the final day.
“Of course, if possible yes. It wouldn’t be my best [season], in Monaco I think it was 11 and that was my best. But I’ll try to do it. The way we play, everyone is important, as you can see today. Right-back Danilo and midfielder Fernandinho scored. Everyone is involved in scoring goals. It might be difficult for Ederson to score but we will try.”

The 23-year-old set up his half-volley into the near corner with a deft piece of control following Leroy Sane’s cross, and revealed it is a part of his game he has worked hard to perfect.
“Yes, I always work on trying to control the ball as well as I can, the first touch for me is one of the most important things in football, the way you control the ball, the way you put it in the best place with the first touch. I’ve been working on it since I was very young and I’m happy to be able to do some good things with it.”
