From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Luke Shaw will remain in an Eindhoven hospital to continue his recovery after undergoing an operation on Tuesday night, it has emerged.
The 20-year-old left-back suffered a double fracture of his right leg after going down under a hefty challenge from PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Romero in Manchester United's opening Champions League group game.
Shaw will have further surgery when he returns to Manchester. However, a decision was made to carry out an initial operation on Tuesday night shortly after the injury was sustained.
Manager Louis van Gaal believes that Shaw, whose parents attended both the match and then the hospital to support their son, will be out of contention for around six months.
It is understood that Shaw's bone did not pierce the skin and therefore did not cause an infection, which should allow him to recover quicker.
Shaw received treatment on the pitch for around nine minutes before being carried off on a stretcher and replaced by Marcos Rojo.
A club statement said: "Manchester United are grateful for the excellent care he is receiving and would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of support.
"A further update will be provided in due course."
The left-back had carried a spell of good form at the tail end of last season into the new campaign after spending his summer holiday in Dubai with a member of United's coaching staff, working on a personalised fitness programme.
The injury puts his involvement in next summer's Euro 2016 in doubt. Shaw had recently established himself as England manager Roy Hodgson's first-choice left-back but now faces a battle to be fit in time for the tournament in France.
