Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has returned a second positive test for coronavirus while on international duty, the Egyptian FA confirmed on Wednesday.

Salah, who first tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, missed Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo and will now be ruled out of Liverpool’s meeting with Leicester this weekend.

News of Salah’s positive test followed reports that he had attended his brother’s wedding, with footage emerging on social media that appeared to show the 28-year-old dancing with other guests.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has also tested positive for coronavirus for a second time.

A statement on the Egyptian FA website on Wednesday read: "Today, Mohamed Salah made a new swab to detect the Covid-19 virus, but its result was positive.

"Today, Mohamed Elneny also conducted a second swab, which confirmed its positive results."

Salah is reportedly showing only mild symptoms of the virus, while Elneny is said to be asymptomatic.
