Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has put his faith in Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial to sit behind captain Wayne Rooney for the trip to Anfield.

The Dutchman continues to face mounting speculation about his Old Trafford future and this afternoon’s derby against Liverpool could prove to be the final nail.

Marouane Fellaini and Morgan Schneiderlin provide the midfield cover as United look to recover from their 3-3 draw at Newcastle United in midweek.

Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool boss, meanwhile, keeps Christian Benteke on the bench as he prefers Roberto Firmino up front for the hosts.

The Brazilian scored a wonderful goal during the 3-3 draw with Arsenal and has impressed for the Reds in recent weeks.
