Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jurgen Klopp has made two changes to his Liverpool team who defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League last weekend for today's match against Crystal Palace, bringing in Christian Benteke and Jordon Ibe for Roberto Firmino and James Milner.
Palace have also made two changes, Bacary Sako comes in for Dwight Gayle, and Pape Soare replaces Joel Ward.
Teams:
Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho, Skrtel, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Lallana, Ibe, Coutinho, Benteke.
Crystal Palace: Hennessey; Kelly, Dann, Delaney, Souare; Zaha, Cabaye, McArthur, Puncheon; Sako, Bolasie.
Jurgen Klopp insists Crystal Palace's recent hold over Liverpool will count for nothing when the sides meet on Sunday.
Palace proved something of a bogey side for Klopp's predecessor Brendan Rodgers, denting their title charge with an improbable 3-3 draw late in the 2013/14 campaign then doing the league double last season.
The 3-1 win at Anfield in Steven Gerrard's last home appearance was particularly chastening.
But Klopp has a clean slate heading into the fixture.
"It's good to be new," said the former Borussia Dortmund coach.
"Somebody told me about the special history with Crystal Palace but I feel nothing when I hear it.
"It's only football. In life, like sport, you can lose big but have to react in the right way...strike back, whatever.
"If we can use this experience then we should do it but nobody has to be afraid because of this opponent, it's not impossible to have a result against Crystal Palace.
