Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ahead of the Premier League meeting between Liverpool and Crystal Palace this weekend, we caught up with a couple of fans for their take on the match...
Liverpool fan - Yemi Abiade
Liverpool came up with quite the result last time out in the league against Chelsea, but you sensed the very worst was coming when the Blues took an early lead - well at least I did.
But the Reds were not perturbed, sticking to manager Jurgen Klopp's tactics and earning an amazing win. Thursday's Europa League victory against Rubin Kazan has further added to the positive impact of Klopp six games into his reign at Anfield.
Crystal Palace are our next opponents on Sunday. Our recent history with the Eagles has been more than well documented, and they have been something of a bogey team for us.
But Klopp will not be concerned and will expect the same level of performance that we have recently seen. He also has no new injury worries, though Christian Benteke's goal last weekend means he should be in contention for a place in the starting line-up. Let's keep the momentum going!
Prediction: Liverpool 1-0 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace fan - Simon Mills
Last week’s performance and 0-0 draw with United will be a big boost for Eagles fans, who will have come away fully believing they deserved to beat Van Gaal’s side.
With several players making their way back from injury, Ward (who was excellent on Saturday), Soure and Wickham (vital to Palace on their day), it would be a welcome sight to see all three in the squad at Liverpool.
If the team can put in a similar performance to the one at Selhurst a week prior, then we have every chance of continuing our fantastic record in the league against the Scousers, as we look to add to our league double over the Reds from last season.
It won’t be easy, however, with Liverpool high in confidence following the arrival of Jurgen Klopp and a comfortable 3-1 victory away at the lowly Chelsea.
Prediction: Away specialists Palace 2-1 Liverpool.
