Manager Jurgen Klopp revealed on Monday that the youngster has returned to full training, having been sidelined since sustaining a foot injury during this month’s 1-0 win over Napoli.
Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner have stepped in to fill his place, but Alexander-Arnold could now be fit enough to reclaim his spot at right-back for Newcastle’s visit to Anfield.
“Trent is back in training, full training, we will see,” Klopp said.
Naby Keita is also set to make a return to training after being forced off during Friday’s 2-0 win at Wolves with a minor foot issue.
As for Joel Matip (collarbone) and Joe Gomez (ankle), Klopp said: “No news, they are both still out.”
Alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), the trio remain Liverpool’s only absentees for the busy festive period.
