Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

One proposed game will take place in Thailand whilst the two in Australia and another in Malaysia have been confirmed.
With the new season to kick-off on 8 August, Liverpool could still fit in at least one or two more pre-season fixtures after their final game on the tour.
The pre-season tour is likely to begin in Bangkok, where the club commands a huge support. It will be the sixth time they have played in the country, if the fixture happens, and more than 50,000 people packed into the Rajamangala National Stadium in 2013.
Originally the game was slated to take place in Macau, but terms could not be agreed in the region.
Following Thailand, the Reds head to Australia for a game against the Brisbane Roar in the Suncorp Stadium and then against Adelaide United at the Adelaide Oval.
The final match of the tour takes place against a Malaysia XI in the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
With two weeks between the final game of the tour and the start of the new season Liverpool will likely play again.
