Jürgen Klopp has admitted that Manchester City will be difficult to catch this season, though the Liverpool manager turned down the opportunity to concede the title race.

Klopp's side sit sixth in the Premier League table at present following Saturday's 1-1 draw with fellow challengers Chelsea, 14 points behind the pace-setters.

Liverpool are also one point off Tottenham Hotspur, whose manager Mauricio Pochettino conceded the title race to City on Saturday after his side's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Wembley.

Hopes of Klopp ending Liverpool's 28-year long wait for a top-flight title this May seem to have passed too, as the former Borussia Dortmund manager freely admits.

Yet ahead of a trip to Stoke City on Tuesday, Klopp reminded his players must do their best to put themselves in a position from which they can capitalise on any slip-ups.

“I saw the game against Huddersfield,” he said, referencing City's hard-fought 2-1 win at the John Smith's Stadium on Sunday. “Yes it was deserved, City won but it was not that Huddersfield could not have one or two moments.

“They won and as long as they win no-one else has a chance. If they stop winning and our team is then in a good moment then it is possible you can still get them. But I don't care about that at the moment.”

Klopp added: “We want to have the next three (points) and then the next three and then the next three because if anyone struggles we need to be there.

“But not for us at the moment, they are too far above us and if they keep on going like this no-one has a chance and it is already decided.”
