Liverpool can win trophies says Luis Suarez

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool striker Luis Suarez believes the players have shown manager Kenny Dalglish they are up for the fight and capable of winning silverware.
Suarez's epitomises the determined spirit within the squad with his energy, endless closing down of defenders and the drive to beat every opponent.
But he thinks the squad Dalglish has now assembled displays a collective will to win.
"We're certainly capable of beating anyone," said the Uruguay international, who won the September fans' player of the month award for a fourth time in the last six occasions.
"The team is in good form and feeling very confident and it's also good the manager can see we have the ambition to pick up trophies.
"But for now, we'll take each match as it comes and hope to pick up some victories in the next few games."
Suarez believes last weekend's 1-1 draw with champions Manchester United - although the first time in four years the Reds had not beaten their arch-rivals at Anfield - proved they had the necessary qualities to succeed.
"It shows promise for the rest of the Premier League campaign," he told liverpoolfc.tv.
"I think the new arrivals have all been positive additions that have helped the team a lot.
"Although they know they are key players, the main thing is all of the squad knows we are in it together.
"No one player is bigger than the rest - on the field we are all equal.
"The main thing is that the team continues to pick up points.
"I think I can still keep improving and offer that little bit more.
"I am happy at how the team is playing as a whole but from a personal point of view I'd love to be able to provide that bit extra for the team."
Suarez found himself the centre of a racism storm last weekend after United defender Patrice Evra accused the striker of verbally abusing him up to 10 times in the match.
The South American vigorously denies the allegations and with the Football Association still investigating Dalglish has voiced his unstinting support for the £22.8million January signing from Ajax.
"The only thing I will say - and then it is put to bed - is that the football club and everyone at the football club is totally and utterly fully behind Luis Suarez," said the Scot.
"There was an allegation (from Sir Alex Ferguson) after the game about him diving all over the place and there was an allegation from Patrice Evra.
"Obviously the two things are emotive but we support the wee man on both things.
"At the start of the week the club made their position known and apart from what I have said we won't be adding to it.
"We are fully looking forward to a complete, transparent report from the FA and we will co-operate 100%."
