From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The players had gathered to watch Tottenham's game against Chelsea which Spurs needed to win to keep the title race alive.
After Tottenham took a 2-0 lead it seemed as though Leicester would have to wait, however goals from Gary Cahill and then Eden Hazard saw the game end 2-2 and Leicester win the title.
Some members of the Leicester team shared videos of the moment they saw the full-time whistle blown at Stamford Bridge and predictably the scenes were wild.
Their manager Claudio Ranieri was not among them, with the Italian coach instead returning from his homeland after visiting his mother.
“Tomorrow (Monday) night I am on a flight,” Ranieri explained. “Now I go back to Italy and I come back at the same time of the match, so I will be the last man in England to know the result.
“I want to meet my mother. She is 96 years old and I like to go to have lunch with her."
Leicester will recieve the Premier League trophy after their final home match which is against Everton this weekend.
