From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Jermain Lens. A Dutch International, the athletic winger will hopefully add some width to the Black Cats' play that was lacking last year. He opened his account in pre-season against Hannover 96 with a rasping drive past German international Ron-Robert Zieler, and it looks like Sunderland have significantly upgraded on Connor Wickham for just £2m more than what Crystal Palace paid for the English frontman.

Weird stat…

0: Both fixtures between these two teams ended in 0-0 draws last year. Hopefully the Foxes and Black Cats can produce more action this weekend than they did in either meeting in 2014/15.

Player to watch…

Jamie Vardy: The Leicester forward’s meteoric rise last season was capped with his debut for England against Ireland at the end of May. His tireless work rate could set the tone for Leicester’s performance at the KC Stadium.

Sunderland 0 Leicester 0, Premier League, May 2015
