Leicester fans everywhere will be hoping for more of the same this weekend at home to Manchester United, after a strong 3-0 victory away at Newcastle last Saturday. There isn’t a better striker in the Premier League at the moment than out very own Jamie Vardy’s and if he scores again on Saturday then he will break Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record- against the Dutchman's former club.
We still look shaky at the back though with Wes Morgan and Robert Huth having only kept two clean sheets so far this season. Fortunately Kasper Schmeichel has been in inspired form and he has single handily kept us in a number of games already this season. The back four has been more settled in recent weeks with Fuchs and Simpson either side of Morgan and Huth and I’m confident we can pick up another clean sheet on Saturday, especially given Manchester United’s lack of firepower in front of goal in recent weeks.
That said, Manchester United will always be extremely tough opposition and there defensive record means that they will be very difficult to break down. But with the form of Vardy and Mahrez at the moment and United looking uncertain in the last couple of games, it could be a fantastic time to play them. It will be a close one, but Leicester could just edge the game 2-1.
Manchester United - Matt Gault
There's no time to dwell on the past. After the horror and indignation of last season's 5-3 humbling by Leicester, it's time to knock them off their perch at the top of the table.
The 0-0 draw with PSV on Wednesday simply wasn't good enough, especially considering that Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay all started. It simply didn't click, but if that happens against Leicester, they'll tear us to shreds, especially with the home fans behind them.
Our defence has proven to be the sturdiest around so far this season, but they'll have to be at their best to stop the rampant Jamie Vardy. I expect Van Gaal to make a few changes from the PSV game - Lingard should be dropped and Mata should definitely come back into the fray, we missed his creativity on Wednesday. It's going to be one of the toughest challenges we've faced so far this season. I expect a cracking, fast-paced game and I'm predicting a 2-2 draw.
