From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Leeds United's Australian striker, Harry Kewell, is a target for the Serie A champions Lazio.
The Italian club's president, Sergio Cragnotti, sees Kewell as the man to help his team do well in the Champions' League. He said: "I was very impressed with Kewell last season and saw the game against Roma in the Uefa Cup where he scored the winning goal. He's a player who I admire and we'll be looking at him."
Lazio have already underlined their spending power by signing Hernan Crespo from Parma in a £35.7m deal.
The Leeds chairman, Peter Ridsdale, has already dismissed any talk of Kewell leaving Elland Road and is in the middle of talks on a new contract with the player's agent. But, with Internazionale spending £13m on Coventry's Robbie Keane, Premiership clubs are at the mercy Italian sides' spending power.
