From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The mastermind behind that 4-3 aggregate Europa League win was Jurgen Klopp.
However it seems when it comes to the real Hollywood Liverpool's German coach is not so clever, with Klopp revealing he doesn't know the movie Jaws. "I don't know the film", he says, before being prompted by the famous two chord theme song.
Klopp made the admission on film for a LFC TV video in which he and his players took on an American movie challenge in which they were prompted to repeat famous lines from the silver screen.
In the video (above) Lucas Leiva struggles to put on an American accent, Simon Mignolet asks "you looking at me" and Mohamed Sakho turns out to be the best actor and Jon Flanagan the worst from among the Liverpool players who take part.
The video was produced to promote Liverpool's pre-season tour during which they will play International Champions Cup fixtures in California, against Chelsea in Pasadena and AC Milan in Santa Clara.
