Jose Mourinho to Manchester United: Memphis Depay says working with manager would be 'nice prospect'

While shrugging off the dismissal of former manager Van Gaal

Manchester United forward Memphis Depay has said that working under the incoming manager Jose Mourinho at the club is a "nice prospect", while shrugging off the sacking of Louis van Gaal, saying his departure "is how things go in football and life".

Mourinho's agent is holding talks with United today as he closes in becoming Van Gaal's successor. The Dutchman Van Gaal was dismissed last night, two days after guiding United to the FA Cup.

Depay was ommited from Van Gaa's squad for the FA Cup triumph on Saturday, but the 22-year-old played down having a love-hate relationship with his compatriot.

“I said this because I believe in myself. A love-hate relationship [with Van Gaal]? I do not know. And now he leaves – this is how things go in football and in life. You learn and you become stronger,” he told De Telegraaf.

“If the arrival of Mourinho becomes official, I’ll ask Wesley Sneijder what kind of man he is. That’s interesting. It all sounds so, but it is not yet official."

When prompted by the Telegraaf reporter that Sneijder once saud Mourinho was the best coach he ever worked under, Depay said: “That’s a nice prospect."

Sneijder and Mourinho won the Champions League together at Inter Milan in 2010.
