Jose Mourinho has outlined the requirements that his next employer must possess amid increasing speculation that he will become the next manager of Manchester United.

The Portuguese coach has been out of work since being fired by Chelsea, just months after he had led them to the Premier League title.

Mourinho has always coveted the Old Trafford hotseat and with Louis van Gaal failing to make a convincing argument that he is the best choice of manager to lead Manchester United in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, there is a growing belief the club will turn to the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager.

Mourinho has consistently refused to say if he will become Manchester United's next manager, but has openly stated he will return to the game before next season.

At a sponsorship event in Lisbon today, he repeated that claim - plus made clear the type of club he wants to join. The specifications he outlined would include Manchester United.

"I can almost guarantee you that I'll be back working this summer," said Mourinho. "I've good offers on the table.

"It’s a matter of thinking, to come to a good decision and finalising it. In the summer everyone will know what my next club will be."

He continued: "I’ll take my ideas to where they are wanted. I want to be at a place where I’m wanted. I want to work at a club with responsibility, in a hard league and where there are no easy objectives. That doesn't leave many options."

Recent reports suggest Mourinho has even gone as far as house hunting near Manchester.
