Jose Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea on Thursday afternoon, according to reports.

The Portuguese manager, the most successful in the club's history, was given the axe by Roman Abramovich just seven months after Chelsea won the Premier League.

The Blues currently sit just a point above the relegation zone after picking up just 15 points from their first 16 matches.

Chelsea have already lost nine league matches this season after going through the whole of the 2014-15 season losing just three.

With Chelsea's favourite targets tied up until at least the summer, the Blues are expected to name an interim boss until the end of the season.

Whoever next takes charge at Stamford Bridge will be the 11th manager to be given the reins since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.
