Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will return to management in mid-July and also praised Lionel Messi in an interview to be screened on BT Sport on Wednesday night.
The Portuguese has been out of a job since he was sacked by Chelsea in December, just six months after leading the club to their first Premier League title in five years.
Mourinho has already been offered a number of roles around Europe, but has been most heavily linked with taking over from Louis van Gaal at Manchester United - a job he is known to have long desired.
Mourinho, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with BT Sport to be screened ahead of Barcelona vs Arsenal, told presenter Matt Smith that he will be back in a job for pre-season.
"Life is good, life is good," Mourinho says when asked. "I know what you mean. Do I miss my football? Yes I miss it. But I look forward to the future, I want my football back and time flies and July will be just around the corner."
Mourinho doesn't reveal where he may end up, however.
"Yes, for sure [he will have a club in the summer]. I don’t know where. Since I left Chelsea in December I was lucky enough to not just have options but good options. But I made the decision to wait. July, mid-July the new pre-season starts and somewhere I want to be there."
Mourinho is then asked how he sees Barcelona's clash with Arsenal and says that having a superstar like Lionel Messi makes all the difference.
"First of all it's about individual players," he says. "Just to give you an example, Messi won the Champions League with three different managers.
"I think it's easier to win with him, than against him. I am a football manager. I know that sometimes people think that the invidiual is more important than the team.
"But when I feel that it is time for me to take a permanent holiday - I still think that the team is more important than anything.
"But the obvious reality is that there are some players who can make a difference."
