Jose Mourinho orders Chelsea players to 'rethink' their lifestyles off the pitch in open admission of frustration

Mourinho believes that some members of his squad are not putting all their efforts into turning Chelse'as season around

Jose Mourinho has followed up his accusation of being “betrayed” by his Chelsea players by claiming some of the key members of the squad need to “rethink” their lives off the pitch in a video posted on the club’s official website.

Mourinho is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge after already seeing his side slump to nine defeats this season, and the Chelsea board are believed to have met on Wednesday to discuss the Portuguese’s future following his outburst after the 2-1 loss to Leicester on Monday night.

However, Mourinho has continued his criticism of the playing squad, and has addressed their lives off the pitch in a bid to try and improve the club’s fortunes on it.

Speaking to Chelsea TV, Mourinho said: "Some of them need to rethink the way they live Chelsea, the way they live football, they live their job.

"Chelsea is big, football is more than a job, it's a passion. Every match on the pitch you should live with an unbelievable passion.

"How many millions would love to be football players and they can't be? You shouldn't waste any minutes on the pitch, you should enjoy every minute and you should give absolutely everything.

"Yes, I feel frustrated with some players and I feel that some others give absolutely everything and don't deserve to lose."

It’s added that Mourinho has informed his squad that some of them should have been sold in the summer transfer window, despite the Blues winning the Premier League last time out. Mourinho has taken the blame for Chelsea’s early-season struggles given he expected them to cope with a late return to training, but he has also expressed a belief that the squad’s current run of poor form is down to the players given they are now match fit.
