From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.John Terry has spoken for the first time about his future beyond the summer saying that he is hopeful of getting another one-year deal at Chelsea to stay at the club beyond his 35th birthday in December.
Terry, who signed a one-year deal last summer, said: "The club know my position. Hopefully I know theirs and it will get done. No talks have happened yet between myself and the club but we both respect the position.
"There's more important players. Eden Hazard's one. For me, that was the most important for the club. Without anyone telling me that, I knew that was the first priority for them. Hopefully they'll be knocking on the door soon.
"The first year I was maybe a bit nervous and edgy and hoping and knocking on the door myself. But we had a good chat. I know their position and they know mine.
"I want to stay and hopefully my performances are showing that and they want to keep me. I'll be happy with one more year and then we'll see how we go year by year. I've not got much choice!"
Terry came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and has never played for another team.
