The record-breaking goalscoring exploits of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is to be celebrated by a limited edition favour of Walkers crisps.

Ahead of the Premier League match against Chelsea on Monday night, supporters will be given a free packet of ‘Vardy Salted’ crisps outside the King Power Stadium.

Vardy scored in eleven consecutive top-flight matches, culminating in his goal against Manchester United a fortnight ago, to break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record and help Leicester go top of the table.

Executives at the Leicester-based crisps company responded to calls from betting company Paddy Power to immortalise the former non-league forward.

A spokesman for Walkers said: “We are excited to announce that we have created limited edition packs of 'Vardy Salted' crisps to celebrate Jamie Vardy's record breaking goals in 11 straight games and following incredible social media public demand.

“Packs of ready salted flavour crisps with a celebratory image of Vardy and in the colour of Leicester's Blue will be handed out exclusively to fans at the Leicester City v Chelsea game.”

Vardy follows in the footsteps of fellow Leicester hero Gary Lineker and Michael Owen who had packets rebranded as ‘Salt and Lineker’ and ‘Cheese and Owen’ in previous years.
