Liverpool's Patrik Berger needs surgery on his injured knee and could miss the rest of the season.
The Czech midfielder was injured on Saturday while trying to tackle Mark Viduka as he scored the third of his four goals in Leeds United's 4-3 victory at Elland Road.
Berger will miss Liverpool's trip to the Czech Republic for Thursday's UEFA Cup game against Slovan Liberec.
Instead, Berger said he plans to travel to Colorado to see knee specialist Richard Steadman, who has previously carried out operations on him and teammate Jamie Redknapp.
"I don't know how long I'll be out for," Berger said.
"But once Dr Steadman has opened up my knee and had a look inside he'll decide what I need to do to get fit. After the operation he'll tell me how long I'll be out."
