Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It’s been an exciting summer of endless transfer rumours, heartfelt come-and-get-me pleas and big-money moves – and that’s just the world of football journalism.
But, after a summer away, The Indy Football Podcast returns with a brand new line-up to get stuck into the new season.
Joining our shiny new host Luke Brown this week is dedicated one-club man and Chief Football Writer Miguel Delaney, new Sports Editor Ben Burrows, as well as our marquee summer signing Tony Evans.
Together, the gang review last weekend’s Community Shield between Manchester City and Liverpool before previewing the 2019/20 Premier League season. Will Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal or Manchester United be able to rein in the top two?
There’s also time to talk transfers and Miguel kindly gives us all an update on the current Christian Eriksen merry-go-round situation developing in north London.
The second half of the podcast then sees the team take a deep dive into two of the most popular articles on the website this week. First, Tony talks about the polarised reaction to his open letter to the Rt Hon Jacob Rees-Mogg MP. And then Miguel cheerily runs us through his latest longread: ‘The Fight for the Soul of Football’.
